The
elderly represent one of the fastest growing population
groups in New York City, and many of them live in the
lower Manhattan communities we serve.
In order to provide the special care needed by patients
who are 65 or older, Cabrini has created an innovative
22-bed Geriatric Inpatient Unit.
The unit has been designed with physical modifications
that are sensitive to the needs of the older patient.
Our Rehabilitation
Medicine Unit is located on the same floor to encourage
early mobilization and rapid return to normal daily
activities.
Central to the special treatment offered by our Geriatric
Unit is a team led by a geriatrician, working with physicians,
nurses, dieticians, social workers, physical therapists,
audiologists and others who are devoted to caring compassionately
for the elderly.
And we are as sensitive to the needs and concerns of
family members and friends who care for the elderly.
Our staff holds weekly Caregiver Support Meetings to
provide you with instructions, information and advice
to help you better care for your loved ones. To learn
more about our Geriatric Unit, call (212) 995-7028.
