Grief, the normal and natural response to loss, is
the most misunderstood and least addressed, yet most
common human experience.
Cabrini Hospice offers programs to help family, friends
and co-workers better understand and cope with the grief
and pain caused by advanced illness or death.
If you are one of the 8 million people each year whose
lives are affected by the loss of a loved one, remember,
you are not alone. Cabrini can help. Our Bereavement
Support Group meets at the hospital on the second Tuesday
of every month at 6 p.m.

Getting
Through the Holidays
Holidays can be most difficult when you lose a
loved one. A few suggestions on how to cope:
- Let
go of expectations that it can be like it was.
- Decide
what traditions to keep and create a new one
you'd like to begin.
- Don't
overcommit. Your energy level won't be as high
as usual.
- Nurture
yourself as best you can.
- Try
to rest and eat nutritionally.
- "Keeping
busy" won't eliminate grief and may exhaust
you more.
- Plan
ahead. Give yourself some structure, but allow
room for change.
